Description
Have you ever asked yourself, what are the important aspects of parenting? What should I do to prepare my child for school? Most parents have had these questions. From the Womb to the Classroom wants to help with answering these questions from a teachers perspective. Yes, Teacher. Us crazy bastards have children too. We leave children, to go to work with children, to come back home to children. Easy. Yes, again... your inclinations about your ex-teachers being crazy as a child, are affirmed. We are :)
My wife and I, are big education nerds. Both of us have over 17 years teaching in various settings under different educational roles. When Martha and I, had our first child we noticed, that she wasn't a child at all, she was a baby. Very different from dealing with the young kids in our schools. We researched and spoke to doctors, and read, and took classes (yes, there are classes).
As we moved through child developmental periods we noticed that we compiled a decent amount of research. I said what the Hell, let’s write a book. We decided to have two children less than 20 months apart, and write a book. We had three babies all at once. Writing a book while raising two small babies, toddlers, or young children (depending on the stage) made things get crazy, but we lived through it (luckily they were healthy).
The focus in our parenting became, recognizing parental actions that lend towards education. Martha and I had to hone in on small actions at home, that made a world of difference years later.
In our book, From the Womb to the Classroom, we elaborate on some big issues in child development and other important factors in dealing with young life. We focus on how to create plans; the variety of schools available; cognitive boosts for babies and young kids; and let's not forget, dealing with technology and gauging the overall crux of young learning. We also recognize that parents have very little time for reading. With that said, we try to jam some jokes in there to keep it light and wrap this handy book up, in under 150 pages. Ensuring that you might finish the book with all of your responsibilities, before your children enter school :)
